Welcome to the second issue of the 2008 Sprue Crew.
Since our last issue was posted, we have had lots of new arrivals come in to MRC and many of them are featuring all new tooling. During the next few weeks we will be updating the Sprue Crew Feature Pages with these new items. Just click on the icons above and check out these new items.
I’ve also had a chance to get out to one of the local IPMS Regional events and put on our MRC display featuring some of these all new items. Last month we attended the RepLIcon XXIII on Long Island, NY. As always modelers were very helpful with their suggestions and relating their experiences. Our next show was the NNL East on April 12, 2008 in its new location, the P.A.L. Building in Wayne, NJ. At this show we were able to preview some new items that will be featured in the next addition of the Sprue Crew.
We will continue to visit shows in the area, please stop and say hello.

April Feature Item
Italeri 1/72 scale SM.82 "Marsupiale"
Photographic Reference Manual Series
The SM.82 Marsupiale was an Italian transport aircraft that also saw duty as a bomber in
World War II. It was the only Italian aircraft able to perform the role of strategic bombing at
the beginning of the war. It was fitted with 3 Alfa Romeo 128RC.18 radial engines putting
out 860 horsepower. The Marsupiale's construction was a combination of wood, metal
and fabric with wood being the key ingredient. As a transport aircraft it could carry up to 40 men and equipment or a L3 light tank. It could even transport a complete disassembled
CR.42 fighter.
Unfortunately the SM.82 Marsupiale was a very slow aircraft and could be shot down easily
by Allied aircraft. In one case a complete formation of ten aircraft were shot down by the
single pass of a P-38 Lightning squadron.
